    We did not enjoy the accommodation or the service from the staff. If you don't speak Spanish then you are not a priority - this is a phrase we heard a lot and agree. The maid watched me go into my room then chapped the door to inform me she would be out for 3 days. I said that was fine, we would still be here when she returned. I was in the room because I was experiencing \"tummy issues\" and was desperate to get to the bathroom before I had an accident (TMI - I know) She then came back and showed me a card saying she would be away 6 days. She was looking for a tip and basically asked twice. The next day, she was back and told me again she would be away and again \"subtly\" hinting for a tip. This made me very uncomfortable - the blatant expectations and forthright manner is not acceptable. We were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. we booked one of the 2 a la carte restaurants to celebrate. Upon getting there, we ordered wine - $37 for a £9 bottle. They then came back with a very expensive bottle saying this was the only rose they had. We declined as it was an unknown brand and over $40 more expensive. The service was terrible after that - no complimentary breads, starters were cold. main courses brought out without us having finished starters or having the plates cleared away. Used silverware being left on table and my soft drink only arriving after my main course was served. The meal I ordered was disgusting - it was a piece of steak that was purely muscle and gristle and inedible. This completely ruined our anniversary, we left without eating. I complained and eventually was assigned a guest services rep who offered us a \"free\" upgrade for one meal at their \"Level\" area and access for 2 hours to the sauna. We had to sign an agreement that this was compensation. However, due to my husband getting food poisoning, we were unable to use this gesture and instead had to get room service of plain chicken and boiled rice sent over. This impacted the last 2 full days of our vacation as we couldn't leave the room. From the 2nd day of our arrival, I experience \"tummy issues\" which lasted pretty much the entire holiday. I was reduced to having toast or bread and cucumber or cold meat for most of my meals and out of the 14night stay, I had dinner in-resort less than 7 times. We found a restaurant outside the resort that we went to a few times and paid for dinner just to have something we could enjoy.
