Accommodation Upon arrival, we were assigned a ground-floor room that was in an unacceptable condition for a five-star hotel. The room was dirty and clearly in need of renovation. Some electrical sockets were loose, exposed wires were visible, and there was no hot water. Paint stains from previous maintenance work were still visible on the bed covers. The windows overlooked a wall and the laundry area, where unpleasant smells were noticeable. We asked if it was possible to move to another room of the same category in better condition, but were told that no such rooms were available. The only option offered was to pay extra for a family room. I had no choice but to pay the additional cost to move to a better room. Although the second room was an improvement, it still had several issues, including an air conditioner that worked inconsistently, a loose balcony door, and generally worn-out furnishings and décor. In my opinion, the standard of accommodation did not meet the expectations of a five-star hotel. Housekeeping changed the towels and bed linen regularly, which was appreciated. However, the quality of cleaning itself was inconsistent. The visible areas of the floor were cleaned, but underneath the beds dust was left untouched throughout our entire stay. Proper cleaning should include all areas of the room, not only those that are immediately visible. Food The overall food selection for adults was varied, and there was always plenty to choose from. However, we found that the hotel was not particularly well suited for families with young children. Many of the dishes contained spices or seasonings that were not suitable for our six-year-old son, and there was very little choice of simple children's food. One particular issue was breakfast. Our son eats cooked oatmeal with milk every morning. I explained this to several members of staff and even showed them a video of what we meant. Unfortunately, they either did not understand the request or were unable to prepare it. Instead of cooking the oats, they simply poured hot milk or hot water over ordinary oat flakes, leaving them uncooked. As a result, I had to buy instant oatmeal from a local supermarket and prepare breakfast for my son myself in the hotel's microwave every morning. For a five-star all-inclusive family resort, I believe this is a service that should be available or that the staff should be able to provide upon request. Smoking Policy Another major issue was smoking throughout the resort. A large number of guests smoked almost everywhere, with little or no enforcement of the hotel's smoking policy. People smoked on the outdoor restaurant terraces, even when families with young children were sitting nearby, and smoking was also very common around the swimming pools and on the beach, directly beside the sunbeds. I believe this is unacceptable. Designated smoking areas should be respected, and the hotel should actively enforce them to ensure a comfortable environment for all guests, especially families with children. Pools & Hygiene Another serious concern was pool hygiene. On the second day after using the swimming pool, I developed bacterial folliculitis. While I cannot confirm with certainty that the pool was the source of the infection, the symptoms appeared shortly after swimming, which raised serious concerns about the standard of pool maintenance and water hygiene. For a five-star family resort, guests should be able to use the swimming pools with confidence that they are being properly maintained and disinfected. I believe the hotel should review its pool hygiene procedures to reduce the risk of similar incidents affecting other guests. Positive Aspects Despite the issues mentioned above, there were also several positive aspects of our stay. The hotel staff were generally friendly, polite, and willing to help whenever possible. The beach and the sea were clean, well maintained, and enjoyable throughout our holiday. The entertainment programme also offered a good variety of activities for both adults and children, and there was always something to do during the day and in the evening. Overall Impression Unfortunately, the number and seriousness of the issues we experienced mean that I cannot agree with this hotel being rated as a five-star resort. Based on our experience, I would consider it closer to a four-star property, and even then only with some reservations. Considering the price we paid, I expected a significantly higher standard of accommodation, cleanliness, facilities, and overall service. While we still managed to enjoy our holiday thanks to the beach, entertainment, and helpful staff, the overall quality did not justify either the hotel's five-star rating or its cost.
