    Riu palace bavaro was beautiful. Unfortunately the food in both the buffet and restaurants was disgusting, except for the breakfast. Staff were only friendly if you heavily tipped. Pool areas were dirty although the adult only wasn’t too bad. Broke toilet flushers. Stairwells in the apartment blocks had a foul fishy smell and rubbish that sat on every floor except the ground floor for days on end. We asked for the bedding to be changed half way through our 5 day stay with the card provided. They did not change them. Bath mats frayed. Bath towels stained. Beach towels had holes, stains and fraying. We had an issue with other guests who were very threatening, rude and entitled, we reported this to reception and they did nothing. My partner got ill, reception was very unhelpful with working out how to get her help and how to change our excursion day to accommodate the illness. I could keep going on but it’s safe to say we were so disappointed.

    Fabulous hotel very grand with beautiful grounds, several pools and loved the beach front location. Check-in was quick however given no information about services, where to go, timings etc. Hotel map available but not given one. Allocated room disappointing which faced a rear car park, spoke to Customer Service very helpful was granted a free upgrade with pool view. Room large sufficient for family of four and was attended to daily. Food was ‘ok’ plentiful with good variety however, limited choice for vegetarians in my opinion. On the whole staff polite and helpful. Use of the English language was limited but we got by. Hotel didn’t feel overcrowded because the grounds are so big! Having said that the Main pool was busy so tended to avoid. No need to reserve sun-beds ‘with a towel’ because there are so many pools and beds available. Overall, very good experience and would stay again.
