The hotel was in desperate need of a full refurb. The furniture was all badly scratched right down to the chipboard. The floorboards were lifting by the doors. The settee and chairs needed a good clean as they were stained and dirty. The tiles in the bathroom looked filthy and the shower screen corners were covered in mould. The carpet in the corridors were badly stained with dirt and also bleach. There was only one working lift for the whole hotel and that would only take a maximum of 4 people without luggage. Everyone we spoke to in the hotel said they were shocked at the state of the apartments, the corridors and only one lift. Like us said they would never stay in the hotel again. I have raised these issues with Tui in Plymouth and advised them not to recommend this hotel to anyone.
Show moreThe hotel is very basic and not well maintained. The wooden furniture is scuffed and has stains from the lack of placemats or coasters. The soft furnishings (curtains, dining chair seats, sofa and armchair) are all stained with some visible tears. The beds are rock hard but the hotel arranged for a mattress topper to be put on my bed which made it so much more comfortable. The pros are there are are lifts and there is a washing machine and dishwasher. A filter coffee machine which you need to buy filter paper for or bring some because I couldn't find any at the supermarkets. It's in a good location for the beach and buses and for Mercadona supermarket, which is one of the better ones and is reasonably priced. It isn't noisy and I couldn't hear plumbing noises which is sometimes a problem at Spanish reports. They don't give you a little starter pack of coffee, tea or dishwasher or washing machine pods or any kitchen towel. They do give you a cleaning cloth, dishcloth, washing up sponge and two little sachets of dishwashing liquid and cleaning liquid for cleaning the kitchen before you leave. I found that not all the light switches seemed to be connected to anything and two of the lamps didn't work. The kitchen light also didn't work but I didn't report anything because I am sure the cleaners have reported issues. That they don't replace stained and torn furniture tells me they aren't spending money on upkeep. There is a safe in the bedroom but to use it you need to get the lock and key. This costs 21 euros for the week or 3.50 euros per day with a 10 euro cash refundable deposit. I used the safe and was happy I did. Bear in mind that extra cost and make sure you have a credit card for the 200 euro deposit. If you leave the kitchen clean and tidy and take out your rubbish they give you back the deposit in full. Otherwise they keep 50 euros for cleaning. I stayed for a week and on the Tuesday they came and made the bed and replaced a toilet roll in the bathroom, which was a pleasant surprise because I thought I had read a review saying they didn't do that. When I checked in I was asked if I preferred a higher room to one on the lower floors. When I said I would like a higher floor, the man said it would cost an extra 60 euros for the week. I said it's fine, I'll take what they have and I got an apartment on the 6th floor, facing the mountains. I checked in early because I had stayed at a different place for one week and had to check out. The hotel wasn't busy so I was able to get the apartment when I arrived at around 10.30am. It's a shame there doesn't seem to be the money to maintain and improve the property because it could be great.
