It's a pity there was no tea/coffee facilities in the room

Hotel Paradise (Gouvia) Far from paradise… Up a steep hill off a busy, dusty main road (dual carriageway). Hotel rooms are small with a small hanging rail, a shelf, drawer below suitable for an overnight stay or weekend break at best. Bed is large but fills the room, small bedside table either side and there’s a small desk and chair with a fridge that can’t keep anything cool let alone cold. Bathroom is small with a sink, toilet and shower cubicle, no space for your toiletries except balanced on the small sink. It also has a bad drain smell every time you enter the room. Hotel bar is the pool bar, no atmosphere and no alcohol free beer. No draft beer, only bottles. Coke pored from a 2ltr bottle into a small glass full of ice for 5/6 Euros. Hotel breakfast is very limited buffet. Same everyday and when the milks gone they don’t replace until you ask, same with bread, meet, cheese etc. No eggs cooked to order, only hard boiled, scrambled or fried. Poor choice of meat, cheese and cereal. Cafe crème comes without milk. Orange juice was actually cordial, whole breakfast just awful, everyone we spoke to said the same, everyone. Round the small pool there are only 12 Sun-beds in the sun, all the others (and there aren’t many) are in the shade for most of the day, some are in shade all day. The pool wasn’t too cold but I think that was down to the hot summer not because it was heated. Hotel rules ask you not to eat your own food or drink by the pool and say they offer Ala Carte lunch menu which is Greek Salad, toasted sandwiches, chips, burgers or pizza that looks straight from the cash & carry we visited down the road 🫣 We chose this hotel because we thought it was ideally placed to visit other parts of the island and weren’t put off by its three star rating as the reviews read well. Everyone’s spoke to staying at the Paradise Hotel were very disappointed. We expected it to be quaint and charming but whilst it’s clean and tidy with manicured gardens it’s been a real disappointment. The hotel offers no facilities to get showered and changed if you have a late checkout (after 11am) We paid 50 Euros to use a basement room that was very, very dated but at least we could freshen up before our 6.30pm airport transfer. On our last night in the hotel a heavy thunderstorm meant you couldn’t walk out for dinner. All the hotel could offer was a warmed up frozen pizza 🥴 one member of staff trying to serve everyone and cook the pizza on his own.
