    We have stayed at hotel istra several times but this time was disappointing. Room was great setting of the hotel cannot be beaten but this year several things were below standard. Food was poor often cold and on many occasions was not replenished quickly enough. The facilities were not as described in the brochure or website. Captains table bar was not open for a drink in the evenings.The restaurant on the other island was closed and unavailable for lunch. Queues for dinner were unacceptable the other food stations were not manned in the dining room.

    We loved our holiday at the Island Hotel Istra. The hotel is beautiful and the ferry trip back and forward to the mainland was very enjoyable. My only complaint was that on arrival in Rovinj we were left at the marina with no information about our onward journey. My husband and I bought a drink in the cafe and chilled out (just as well, as we had to wait an hour for the ferry), but some people were sitting on the wall for the whole time. Not ideal.

    The hotel and its facilities were lovely. The food was OK, but very uninspiring so much so that we decided not to bother with the hotel for 2 nights and went elsewhere. There was supposed to be 2 more bars and an extra restaurant but they were closed and we were provided no information around this. Of the 2 additional restaurants that were open the hotel would not allow us to transfer our evening meal to one and to transfer to the other would cost an additional 44 euros per person. The hotel provided sandwiches at lunch which were very nice however, a little expensive. The regular boat to the main land was very reliable. It is worth mentioning that none hotel guests were allowed to visit the island and use sun loungers provided around the island. Although they would have to pay for them, I would imagine that in high season this could make things very crowded. The pool and sun loungers surrounding it were not accessible to non-hotel guests.
