Show moreEin sehr gutes Hotel.

Show moreThe hotel itself was not an issue, staff were great, friendly, facilities were good and hotel was very clean. Location was great right on beachfront and close by to old town. The main issue was the fact that this hotel caters for German holidaymakers. Now before I go any further we have no issues with Germans at all, my mother in law was born in Germany so there is no issues in that respect at all. The issue was the fact this hotel is mainly set up for the German culture, this is evident at breakfast where there is very limited traditional English food, ie sausages, bacon etc... however the sweet cakes on show and breads on show which we know are a German tradition were everywhere, however like I said in a tiny corner of the breakfast room there was scrambled eggs, bacon, beans but very limited choice. Only one day our of the seven was there mushrooms and sausages and the sausages were not traditional sausages they were small continental ones. To press my point here when on the first day I asked for brown sauce to put on my bacon it was like I had 2 heads and I was informed that the hotel do not provide HP or other brands of brown sauce however there was mustard, mayonnaise etc but no Red or Brown sauce! This is obviously because this is not a German tradition so it really made me feel like a second class guest and I ended up bringing my own HP sauce to breakfast which was not ideal. Again all the chalk boards around the sun terrace and bar, restaurant were written in German! What good is that to an English guest? I would say without being overboard the occupancy was I guess a good 80 to 90% German nationals which explains the hotel catering primarily for Germans, I just think it would have been nice to be told that this hotel was mainly occupied by German nationals and therefore predominantly caters for their culture and tastes and signs written in German as if I did know this then I would have chosen a different hotel that catered for me! The other issue I had with this hotel was the fact that this hotel was far more expensive to stay than mist others in the area which was fine as you only get what you say for however when I was presented with an extras menu at breakfast, if I wanted an omlett for example which I would say was basics let's be honest here, I would have had to pay a 4 euro subsidy for the privilege which I think is an absolute liberty and taking the mick so the near £1000 extra we paid to stay here as apposed to other hotels did not seem good value for money. I have stayed in many hotels all over the world 5 star 3 star and in all my 40 odd years of travelling I have never been asked to pay extra for an omelette at breakfast!! This really annoyed me and in next clople of days a trustpoiit review will be written by me to let holidaymakers know this is a hotel that caters for Germans has no HP sauce at breakfast never mind sausages and charges you 4 euros for a basic omelette, unbelievable!!
