Clean comfortable accommodation in a great area to explore the city

The accommodation was lovely. Exactly as described and photos were accurate. The location was fantastic. Right in the heart of New York but set back far enough that it was quiet to get a good night sleep.

Very small room, air con very noisy and came on with a bang every time it started, elevators were lousy - went past floors and had to wait 5-10 minutes regularly. Twice we gave up on waiting for the elevator and decided to walk the ten floors down to the reception…not something we take likely at the age of 69 and 75…. Worst thing was we had enormous door to our bathroom which would not close. An engineer was sent up to fix it but he was unable to do anything - he promised that it would be done but it never was. Twice I tried to push the door to but then didn’t have sufficient strength to open it again and my husband had to push it from the other side. So we had no real privacy and were concerned that the steam would escape and set off the alarms each time we showered - not good.

Gutes Stadthotel nahe Broadway / Times Square. Man ist somit mitten im Geschehen. Super. U-Bahn um die Ecke.

Hotel was in a great location but there were many problems. Lift had to be called via a what’s app message to a what’s app group set up by the hotel and managed by staff on lift duty. Many people had to wait a long time for the lift to arrive or walk up and down the stairs. (Not an option from floor 23 where we were staying) Hotel took credit card number for security and then 400 dollars was debited without notice for ‘incidentals’. Had to ask reception for an explanation and was advised that money less any incidentals would be refunded 5-7 days after checkout. Hotel room was very small and dated with tiny wardrobe in far corner of the room. Bathroom was a good size but hot water was very much hit and miss. Breakfast was in the adjacent restaurant and the choice of food was very poor. Same small self serve buffet every day. Waiter service was provided for drinks only and a tip request put on the table at every sitting which we felt under pressure to give. Atmosphere was oppressive with 3-4 servers constantly hovering over us.
