⸻ ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2/5) We booked this hotel with great excitement, expecting the experience of a true five-star resort. Unfortunately, our stay fell well below those expectations. Before I begin, I would like to mention that I have worked in the hospitality industry for over ten years. I fully understand that unexpected situations can happen in any hotel. However, what truly distinguishes a five-star property is not the absence of problems, but how those problems are prevented, communicated, and resolved. The first thing that stood out to us was the way the standard All Inclusive package compares to the Privilege experience. I have stayed at several five-star resorts in the Dominican Republic and Greece where premium categories also exist. However, I have never felt that guests who booked the standard package were treated as second-class guests. Our first impression was disappointing. While waiting to check in, we were invited to enjoy a welcome drink. The only options available were beer or sparkling wine for adults, and iced tea for my 13-year-old daughter. Since we do not drink beer or sparkling wine, I asked if another drink was available and was told that anything else would have to be paid for. I found this surprising, especially since we had already paid for an All Inclusive holiday. A welcome drink should make every guest feel genuinely welcome, regardless of the package they have booked. Throughout our stay, we also felt that the All Inclusive experience was quite limited. At other resorts we have visited, the standard All Inclusive package usually includes at least one or two dinners in à la carte restaurants. Here, we were limited almost exclusively to the buffet, while access to the à la carte restaurants required an additional payment, even if a small discount was offered. Another surprising policy was that the minibar is replenished only every two days. While this may be the hotel’s policy, I do not believe it reflects the level of service expected from a five-star All Inclusive resort, particularly during the summer. From the very first night, the air conditioning in our room did not cool properly. Although maintenance attended to the issue, the improvement was minimal, and the room remained uncomfortable for sleeping. Housekeeping also fell below expectations. Upon arrival, we found hair in the shower, hair on the bed, stains on the bed sheets, debris on the bathroom floor, and even a tea bag left on the floor next to the coffee station. These are details that should have been identified during the final room inspection before guests arrive. After three nights, I requested a bed linen change. The sheets were replaced, but the pillowcases were not. I had to personally speak with the Housekeeping Supervisor to have the service completed. What surprised me even more was receiving different explanations from the supervisor and the room attendant. I have attached photos showing this situation. The most disappointing incident occurred when the hotel lost its water supply for approximately two hours. During that time, guests could not shower or even use the toilet properly. What disappointed us most was the lack of communication. No information was provided to guests regarding the issue. When I called Reception to ask when the water would return, the only answer I received was: “When it’s fixed.” I later tried calling Reception several more times, but nobody answered the phone. When the water finally returned, it came out brown, as shown in one of the attached photos. The buffet was acceptable, but certainly not at the standard expected from a five-star resort. The entertainment programme was also very limited for a property of this category. Despite these issues, I would like to sincerely recognise several members of staff who made a positive difference during our stay. Birama, Begoña, and Arianne Pérez in the restaurant provided outstanding service with genuine kindness and professionalism. We would also like to thank Víctor Perdomo at the bar, whose friendliness and excellent customer service deserve special recognition. Thanks to employees like them, some moments of our holiday were truly enjoyable. My criticism is directed at the hotel’s management and operational standards, not at its staff. Interestingly, while we were sitting in the reception area writing part of this review, there appeared to be a meeting taking place involving members of the hotel’s management team, discussing the current state of the hotel. We found it surprising that, despite hearing us openly discussing our concerns just a few metres away, nobody approached us to ask about our experience or whether there was anything they could do to improve our stay. It felt like a missed opportunity to listen directly to a guest’s feedback. I am not writing this review to damage the hotel’s reputation. On the contrary, I believe the property has great potential and employs genuinely dedicated staff. However, the combination of maintenance issues, housekeeping shortcomings, poor communication, limited All Inclusive benefits, and overall service standards means that, in my opinion, this hotel does not currently deliver the five-star experience it advertises. I sincerely hope management accepts this review as constructive feedback and uses it as an opportunity to improve the guest experience for future visitors.
