The hotel and the rooms present really well but there were far too many issues which led to the entire stay being a failure: 1. Mandatory wearing of swimming caps in the pool. We weren’t given any prior notice of this and had to pay €7.50 per cap at the Pool. 2. No inflatables or ********** allowed in the pool. 3. The whistle-happy lifeguard, Salvatore, told me that my grandkids couldn’t jump into the water. The extensive pool rules listed no diving which I understand given it’s leading with the head. There was no mention of no jumping feet first and when I queried this with the Hotel GM, she said diving includes jumping and they will need to change the list of rules. I feel that was totally unnecessary and actions of the Fun Police. 4. Food. This hotel is listed as a 4 Star (T) by TUI but the repetitive evening buffet is far from 4 Star. It was bland, tasteless and lacked imagination. 5. We arrived on the Saturday and on Sunday we had to have the batteries replaced on the room lock, then again on Monday. On Tuesday the whole battery pack was replaced and then on Wednesday the whole lock had to be replaced. 6. Nighttime entertainment. This started at 2130hrs and ran for 30 mins. On the one night that our kids were still awake long enough to attend, the “entertainment”consisted of sitting in a circle on the floor for the first 20 mins while the staff spoke then they had 10 mins of dancing.

The Gardaland Adventure hotel is very clean and well maintained, but there's not much to do onsite so if you don't have a car be prepared to rely on taxis to get about, as the only transportation available is a link to Gardaland theme park, then a bus into Peschiera and beyond. Check-in isn't until 3 PM, so if you arrive early consider leaving your luggage and exploring the town. The onsite restaurants are not the best; the buffet is overpriced, and the Tutankhamon Restaurant has limited options. All the staff are very helpful, and all have a good understanding of English (and other languages outside of Italian). There's no shop on site, just vending machines, so getting water/snacks can be expensive. It's best to take a taxi to a local shop to stock up. You can walk 10 minutes into Cavalcaselle to find café’s bars and restaurants but be careful as the path is a single-track road and not well lit at night. Gardaland Theme Park is a great day out for the family with plenty to see and do, the queues for the rides are not crazy so you can get a lot done. The Sealife Centre is not worth visiting, as it has limited attractions and feels like an unnecessary addition. Verona is just 15 minutes away by train and offers a wonderful mix of old and new attractions. Peschiera is a lovely town, there is a lot to do and see and all within a good travelling distance from the hotel. The Bars and Restaurants offer a good variety from reasonably priced to high end if you wish. Parco Natura Viva is a must-visit and offers great value, but again, plan for a taxi or have an Uber account ready. Overall, it's a great destination and well worth the visit, but be prepared for taxis if you don't have a car.
